To Jana, with love . . . Where everybody knows her name

So, I'm sitting in one of the cafes in the center of town (off the Ceska No. 5 trolley stop), wondering why something seems so familiar about this place . . .

When we first arrived at the dorms, this list of names greeted us at the entry -- apparently, graduates of Mendel University earning their "Master of Science in Engineering" (abbreviated as "Ing.") will paint their names and graduation year in white or yellow paint on the school concrete pathways and steps -- this is the first list we saw --

Then we saw another . . .

And a few others!

These were painted in yellow and a little harder to read . . .

So, then I decided to look up -- what else would I find?

So, what's a mother to do?  Why, go shopping, of course!

Yes, this is a place where everybody knows Jana's name!

  1. What a fabulous find. I didn't realize that the name Jana is so popular in the Czech Republic. I always thought it was Polish.
