Saturday was a particularly long and somewhat difficult journey from Brno to Cambridge,
but we finally made it here by Saturday night.
On Sunday morning, we had a lovely walking tour of some of the Cambridge historic sights -- the students seemed very impressed -- 88 Nobels, 5 kings to build Kings Chapel, 33 glorious colleges, and all the human drama in between -- so much to absorb on their first walk-about in Cambridge.
Here are some of our own walk-about sights -- I will take more pictures over the next 3 weeks --
The double-helix on the Memorial Court front lawn
St. Mary's Cathedral
Gonville & Caius College - near where we turn onto our alley leading back to Clare College
Our alley in front of Gonville & Caius College
Part of the town of Cambridge
Mark sitting and enjoying the bells ringing from St. Mary's across King's Road,
you can see more of the town . . . .
Cambridge University Press -- circa 1500's in this same location
Ita learns what a "selfie" is . . . .
From the Clare College bridge, we can see they are still punting on the Cam.
Mark views the punters from the other side of the bridge.
Cambridge very nicely put out a bunch of signs about Mark's class --
this one is right at the Latimer Room where the class will be held
Anastasia, Codi and Lindsay find another sign about the class
Another sign, but we noticed the Clare College sign too . . . .
Today is Monday -- Class began in the Latimer Room in Old Court at 9 a.m. sharp! Everyone looks ready to push forward and carry on . . .
