Rain and Christ's Pieces in Cambridge

It is Thursday morning and we wake up to a light but steady English rain (okay, here in Cambridge, they just call it "rain") --

Old Court in the rain

No punts and punters this morning

Yesterday was a sunny day and we took a walk through Christ's Pieces and the park area around it.  The term "pieces" refers to pieces of land once owned by Christ's College, which is nearby.  Here are some of the sights we saw on our walk:

People bring their lunches and have picnics on the grounds.

We noticed there were beautiful flower beds planted here and there.

There were even permanent Ping-Pong tables!

At the end of our walk, we come to a shopping center called "Grafton Center" -- it seems that with a commitment of 10 to 15 minutes, most Cambridge-ites can walk to most anywhere in Cambridge!

Last night's dinner was at an Italian restaurant, La Margharita, which was hosted by Cambridge for our students because the ARM conference had taken over all of their catering staff and facilities.

Mangia!
